1. Tips for team building
We'll start off with some team building tips to help you prepare to take on other powerful squads in MUT. Most Madden 22 players will have fairly stacked teams, so you'll definitely want to do your best to build the best team possible come game time.
Don't miss the free coins
To build a strong team you will need coins, there is no way around it. However, this does not mean that you will have to invest real life money in Madden 22, you just need to play smart.
We already have a detailed article on theThe best ways to get coins in Madden 22so check this out.
In short, play all the challenges and keep working on the auction market - look for players with low prices and spin them for profit. Also, don't forget to buyget a playerpackages, as they are cheap and often offer useful features. Not to mention, they will help you reach your daily goals.
Get the strategy elements right
Strategy elements play an important role in Madden22 and it looks like they are here to replace Single Chemistry.
They come in three levels:
Strategy items work much like chemicals used to: they give all players in a given position an attribute boost. Obviously, rare items offer the best boosts.
Of all the offensive strategy items, you'll want to get theDeep Route Specialistfor his wide receivers andlet it ripfor their QBs. They will give significant boosts to the most important attributes like SPD and CTH for receivers and DAC, MAC and possibly THP for your QB. You can also go tomovingfor your runner to get more speed and better moves.
On defense, you'll want to take a look at theand hidestrategy element for their defensive backs (cornerbacks and safeties). If you're lucky, you'll get the rare item that increases the most important attributes like zone coverage, play recognition, awareness, man coverage, and speed – this can really be a game changer for your defense.
Also, don't forget that strategy items can be upgraded with Training Points for an even better boost.
Sell the players you don't need
Always keep track of your folder and keep making moves. You must actively sell players to train or put them to work in teams. A solid card sitting in your binder is an asset that will go to waste if you don't do something with it.
For example, a 74 OVR player will bring 21 trainings that you can use to upgrade players or strategy items. take a look at ourMadden 22 Training Values Guideto see exactly how many training points each card is worth.
2. Strategy Tips
Now, let's discuss a few things you need to figure out before you get started. They are simple strategic moves that will make a big difference during the game.
Choose the right manuals
To win more games in Madden 22 Ultimate Team, you need to make the right plays for your team and opponent.
There is no magic solution to choosing the best playbooks. You have to play the game, execute a bunch of different moves, and figure out which ones you're comfortable with. It's also good to choose a playbook that plays to your team's strengths. If you have a high THP quarterback and some star receivers, a pass-heavy playbook like the Chiefs or Saints playbooks is probably a great choice.
Meetbest defensive manuals, you must look for versatility. Look for a good mix of formations and defensive teams to defend against all kinds of plays. The Patriots, Steelers and Vikings playbooks are good places to start.
Define your training settings
A lot of people overlook this part, but it can be an absolute game changer.
Before you start, go to your training settings and experiment with the settings a bit to see your options.
One setting you should definitely consider in H2H Online is adjusting your zone dropouts. If your opponents' wide receivers keep outplaying you with the same routes and you see a pattern, you can manually adjust your coverage. Play around with the drop depth and you will see instant results.
Depending on the situation, you can also use other settings. For example, if you want to force tackles and play harder on defense, you can set your tackle toaggressive. You can also tell your advocates thatthrow the ballinstead ofplaying the catcherto try to intercept passes more often.
Needless to say, these settings have their downsides. Throwing the ball is risky and will leave faster receivers more open. Aggressive tackling will increase your chances of causing a fumble, but it will also increase the chance of your defender getting taken down.
Don't forget the coin toss setup
This may seem like a small thing, but it can make a big difference in online play.
Go to Settings in the main Ultimate Team menu and navigate to Coin Flip Settings. Set your first option toHopperand your second choice forAgainst the wind. This will ensure that you have the wind at your back during the second half, when every play matters so much more.
3. Game Tips
Finally, we come to some game-specific tips. As mentioned, many Madden 22 players are pros, so winning more games in MUT won't be as easy as playing against the CPU. They will be able to read plays and play mind games much more efficiently.
Learn to read the defense
In H2H online, this is an absolute must. This will save you a lot of frustration and have a huge impact on your defensive game.
Before the snap, when the teams are ready, take a look at the safeties, cornerbacks and linebackers. Their positions will tell you what coverage you are up against. Typically, you will be faced with one of the following coverages:
- Capa 1:Only safety in the middle of the field, cornerbacks near the line of scrimmage.
- Coverage 2 Zone:Two safeties, cornerbacks about 7-8 yards from the line of scrimmage
- Cover 2 Man:Two safeties, pressured cornerbacks in the line of scrimmage
- Capa 3:A safety in the middle of the field, cornerbacks about 7-8 yards from the line of scrimmage
- Capa 4:Two safeties and two cornerbacks playing safety
- Capa 6:Two safeties, one deep cornerback, the other closer to the line
These are the general weaknesses of each defense:
- Capa 1:Crossing lanes where receivers cross the field
- Coverage 2 Zone:Flood, Rupture, Vertical
- Cover 2 Man:Trawls, Texas
- Capa 3:Verticals, corrugation planes, excavation routes
- Capa 4:Stick, Drive, Dig rotas
- Capa 6:shallow cross, break, flood
It may take some time to learn these things, but trust me, it will be worth it. Reading defense is one of the most important adjustments you should make and it will definitely help you win more matches in MUT.
Practice coverage coverage and find the right plays to beat each one!
In fact, there's a great in-game tutorial that walks through all of these penthouses and shows you some plays and concepts that can beat them.
User takes all passes
Don't let the CPU drive your wide receivers; this will result in a lot of incompletions and that's something you can't afford in online H2H.
Instead, switch to a receiver by tapping Circle/B and manually catch the pass. Use X/A to safely catch passes and avoid unnecessary misses. In crowded situations, you can use Triangle/Y to jump over the ball and make the standout play (and avoid a potential interception).
When your receiver is out in the open and you have room to run, press Square/X to pick it up and run.
Executing the right catch at the right time can make a world of difference in MUT online matches. The least you want to do is use Secure Catch when your receiver has a defender nearby, so he can hold the ball and not drop it once it hits him. This will do wonders to complete your pass.
Master Clock Management
Lastly, you want to become a sort of Tom Brady when it comes to managing the clock.
Madden 22 Ultimate Team matches are short, and there is a limit on possessions in a single game. On offense, you are likely to have possession 3-4 times per game. It's 3-4 shots to make moves and put some points on the board.
Your job is to make every possession count, and you'll do this by taking your time and making sure your opponent doesn't have time to respond.
Here are some scenarios to consider.
FirstIf you are trailing and your opponent is in possession of the ball in the red zone with less than 2 minutes remaining on the clock, start calling timeouts. They will have a maximum of 4 plays here before the ball is in their hands, even if the drive ends with them scoring. That means you have to prevent them from burning the clock and make sure you have time to score once you get the ball.
Second,if the roles are reversed and you lead in the fourth quarter, burn the clock. Run the ball and don't break it until the timer is below 5 seconds.
Third,If you have the ball and don't have much time to score, pass the ball and try to hit the corners. Get the ball from the catcher and go out of bounds to stop the clock. Incomplete passes will also stop the clock. So combine field trips, incompletions, and timeouts (if you have them) to stop the clock in late game situations.
Once you've learned how to do this effectively and become familiar with the best 2-minute offensive plays, you'll be able to run the clock like a pro. If you play against a weaker player and have a star quarterback, it will take you less than two minutes to get to the end zone inside your 20.
H2H is incredibly competitive and learning how to win more games in Madden 22 Ultimate Team will take time.
It takes a holistic approach that starts with building your roster and ends with making the right plays on both offense and defense.
Reading Defense and User Catching All Passes are the two game settings you should look into. They completely transformed my game and I'm sure the same will happen to you if you put in the time.
